Information Centre has future

The future of the Ruapehu Region Information Centre in Ohakune could be assured after an announcement last week from the Chief Executive of A.A. (Wanganui) Incorporated, Mr Kevin Allum. He said that the A.A. was enthusiastic to accept the role of principal of the centre. AA representatives met with Ohakune Mayor Bill Taylor and councillors, and Mr John Sandford who had been responsible for the centre until earlier this year. Confirmation of support from businesses is needed for further progress and the Ohakune Borough Council is expected to take the lead, said Mr Allum in a press statement. "Such support will be required before a suitable staff appointment could be made," he said. The AA confirmed that they would operate the centre in a responsible and professional manner to the satisfaction of all concemed.
