College board of governors' members retire
Ruapehu College's Board of Governor's final meeting of the year of the old board was held recently and a farewell was held for four of its long serving members. The representative for Waiouru parents Bill Harding, Ohakune parents' member Janet Martin, Ohakune Borough Council representative Margaret Horne and the Wanganui Education Board representative Peggy Frew have all retired. Newly elected members, Ohakune Borough representative Ellen Gould and Ohakune parents' repre-
sentative David Brannigan will be taking up their positions at the Board's next meeting, to be held in August. Mr Harding is the longest serving member to stand down, with nine years' ser- ; vice on the Board. Mrs Martin served for three years, while Mrs Horne and Mrs Frew both served for six years. ' ^ Mrs Frew was chairperson of the Board for two of those years. Ruapehu College Principal Ian Meredith commended Mrs Frew for her time in the chair. "Her chairmanship was brilliant, and unequalled in anything I've ever come across," he said.
