Ohakune Police arrested a 21-year old local man on Saturday night following an incident when the man unlawfully entered a motor vehicle. He also faced a further charge of theft. ★ ★★ A house in Raetihi Road, Ohakune was broken into overnight Friday. A stereo cassette player was stolen in the break-in. ★ ★★ Ohakune Police are investigating the theft of a yellow 10-speed bicycle from Totara St, Turoa Village on Saturday night. Anyone knowing the whereabouts of the bicycle is asked to contact the Ohakune Police Station. ★★★ Some clothing was re- ] moved from a clothesline :
in Ayr St, Ohakune on Saturday night. Enquiries are continuing. ★ ★★ Three motor vehicles belonging to Ohakune residents were broken into over the weekend. The vehicles were parked in and around Ohakune township. Stolen property includes a portable radio cassette player and tapes. ★ ★★ A ladies handbag was stolen from the lounge bar of the Ohakune Hotel on Saturday evening. The bag was later recovered, minus cash and a chequebook. ★ ★★ Two pair of skis were taken from two locations on Turoa Skifield over the weekend. Police enquiries are continuing. ★ ★★ A ski-rack was removed from a vehicle parked in Ballance St, Raetihi, overnight Saturday. ★ ★★ Ohakune Police advise visitors and residents alike to secure their motor vehicles when left unattended and remove all items of value. Thefts from motor vehicles are a recurring problem during the ski season, they said.
