Nightclub nearly ready to rock
The Ohakune Junction nightclub Hot Lava today awaits the decision on its application for a food and entertainment 'iquor licence. Mr Beckett has upgraded the nightclub to licensing standards, putting in new seating, carpet and a refurbished serving area. Nelsonian Richard Barroud has spent much time in painting the ceiling and walls of the nightclub, covering them with coloured clouds and a giant mural of the Tongariro mountains. Owner Paul Beckett said the painting made the Sistine Chapel look like an early sixties Shadows' video.
