Each week in this new column we will bring you recipes which will be both wholesome and delicious. If you're getting bored with cooking the same dishes week after week you'll find these recipes make a tasty, interesting change.

Our first recipe, Rice Pilau can be served as the main dish or accompanied with a fresh salad or green veges. Or possibly with fish or chicken. Also delicious as leftovers, cold for lunch. RICE PILAU 2 onions chopped cooked in 2 tablespoons oil. 1 cup raw brown rice, add to above stirring several minutes. 2 1/2 cups water, 1

tablespoon tomato sauce, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 cup brown or red lentils, add to the above, bring to the boil, then simmer on low for 40 minutes until rice and lentils are cooked. 1/2 c raisins 2/3 cup pinenuts/cashews /sunflower /sesame seeds or a mixture, 1 tablespoon oil. Fry fruit and seeds/nuts in oil and add to cooked rice.
