Archbishop visits

Waimarino parishioners met the Archbishop of Wellington last week during his visit to the most northern parish in the Wellington diocese. Last week was his first visit to Raetihi and the Ruapehu Anglican Parish since he was ordained last year. Before becoming Archbishop, Paul Davis was the Bishop of Waikato, based in Hamilton. His visit to the Waimarino was in order to meet the parishioners and vicars of the Ruapehu parish. It also coincided with the last days of the recent Ruapehu Mission,

conducted by the NZ Church Army and run simultaneously with a second mission in Wanganui. Services during the week were exceptionally well attended, with the final closing ceremony held at St Mary's Church in Raetihi, attracting the largest crowd ever to attend Sunday Anglican worship. Archbishop Paul Davis was hosted by the Reverend Bob Peck and Mrs Peck during his stay. The children of Orautoha School were delighted

when he made an informal visit on Thursday and spoke briefly about his position.

He also visited Ohakune and showed great interest in the development of the area.
