Video Review. Enemy Mine
The year is 2040 and humans live amongst the stars. The story begins with a dog-fight in space between Willis (Dennis Quoid), a brash, overzealous young space pilot and 'Drac' - part man, part reptile (Louis Gossett Jnr, of 'An Officer and a Gentleman' and 'Jaws 3' fame). Both parties crash-land on an inhospitable planet whose natives are far from friendly. These sworn enemies are forced to team up as their only means of survival and so the tale unfolds. There are a few surprises in store for the duelling duo along the way and one big surprise for Willis, who becomes the unwilling father of a baby Drac.
Touching stuff. Later (much later), he is rescued by humans but finds that his loyalty now lies with the Dracs. Not a fast-moving, nor particularly gripping video those who like something to sink their teeth into may be disappointed. Nonetheless, 'Enemy Mine' has two things going for it; an interesting story line with brief moments of thrill, and a happy ending.
