County releases Valuations
The five yearly revaluation of Waimarino County has recently been released resulting in a revised gross capital value of $147.34 million as at 1 May 1987 compared with $158.87 million at 1 July 1982. Corresponding land values are $91.27 million at 1 May 1987 and $116.47 million at 1 July 1982 according to a statcment released by Mr M R Henshaw, District Valuer of the Valuation Dcpartment, Wanganui. The revised values reflect the market value of properties as at 1 May 1987 and are derived from comparison with open market saies that have taken place. During the five year
period from 1982 farm land prices rose through 1983 and 1984 and have since declined so the comparison with the previous valuation is between 1982 and 1987 levels and not the market peak of 1984. Increases in values have occurred in residential sections and small properties, the more versatile land of the plateau have remained stable while substantial drops in value have occurred in the more remote hill country. Departmental officers will be available at the Waimarino County offices, Raetihi on Thursday 2 July from 10am to 3 pm to diseuss values with property owners and may also be contacted at the Department offices, State Insurance Building, Wanganui during normal office hours.
