Top lodge finished off
The new 'Beechers Lodge', built at the Turoa Alpine Village in Ohakune has been finished in time for the 1987 ski season and New Zealand Ski Fields Limited are offering free Turoa ski season passes to purchasers of shares in the company that will operate the lodge. Shares in the company are limited to 55 at $17,000 each and people investing before 30 June will receive the ski passes. The shared ownership lodge will operate as an unlisted company, similar to some ski clubs. The lodge is in a prime position at the front of the Turoa Alpine Village so that its uninterrupted view will never be built out. The $750,000 lodge is claimed to offer luxury accommodation superior to any previously available in
Ohakune. All bedroofhs in the lodge have ensuites and incorporate a lounge area. The lodge also has a sauna, separate television lounge, children's play area, ski workshop, drying room, laundry and a large lounge-kitchen-dining area. New Zealand Ski Fields managing director Tony Wright said Beechers Lodge reflected his company's objective to provide the best facilities to back up those already available at Turoa. "With increasing demand from a year-round tourist market for more select and upmarket accommodation, we are confident Beechers Lodge will appeal to both skiers and investors," said Mr Wright.
