Ski hire carpark's decision
An application for approval to provide car parking for "Nobby's Ski Hire" on land in Thames Street, Ohakune was confirmed by the Ohakune Borough Council at last week's full council meeting. The application had been lodged at Ohakune the town planning meeting of
4 June. The ski hire business operates from premises in Rimu Street which joins Thames Street. There is an obligation under Ohakune by-laws for ski hire businesses to provide off street parking for customers and the proposal was to comply with this obligation. The application included a request for a dispensation to enable vehicles using
the car park to reverse into Thames Street and a request for a dispensation to permit the car parks to remain unsealed. The council approved the car park proposal but requires that the area be sealed. The car park must be formed and sealed by 29 February 1988. An application concerning ski hire car parking was also received from Hiline International Limited who intend to operate a ski hire on the corner of Thames Street and Mangawhero Terrace. The group had applied for a dispensation from the requirement for the sealing of car-parks in tourist development zones because they plan to develop the site within the next three years, possibly destroying the seal. The dispensation was declined and the council decided that the sealing must be completed by 29 February !988.
