Latest road-burner
HONDA'S latest roadburner, the CBX750F, is now available from Graham Taylor Motors in Taumarunui. The 'bike is a totally new machine and has anamazing 91 horsepower in-line four cylinder motor. The CBX750F's engine is compact and lightweight, even by Honda standards. The engine was designed to eliminate the primary shaft power being transferred directly from the crank to the clutch mounted on the transmission shaft. The reduction in engine length can be easily seen. Width was reduced, and cornering clearance greatly increased, by locating the ACG piggyback behind the cylinders. The brushless design is maintenance-free and the unit is forced air-cooled. With the frame downtubes doubling as a small oil tank, the oilpan volume is reduced and the engine placed lower in the frame. This lowers the centre of
gravity improving straight line stability and combined with beveiled sidecovers increases cornering clearance. The CBX750F engine sports a number of forwardthinking innovations enhancing power output and machine drivability and reducing time-consuming, expensive maintenance. The CBX is a high rpm, high-performance motorcycle. To keep it running cool and eliminate powerrobbing overheating even under extreme temperature conditions, a full flow, highefficiency oil cooler is standard. To extract the maximum power from the CBX's highperformance engine, an innovative exhaust system was developed from scratch. The four individual header pipes merge into two below the engine, with a balance tube connecting these a little further back. Final exhaust is by two tucked-in, highflow mufflers.
