Bureau group to meet
The first meeting of the recently formed establishing committee of the Waimarino Citizens Advice Bureau is next week The bureau which will be known as the 'Waimarino Community Advice Service' for the first 6-12 months, is to be a free service manned by volunteers trained in assisting people first hand or linking them to services that are able to provide the answers to their questions. The formation of the committee was the culmination of much effort by Waimarino visiting teacher and Ohakune resident Judy Doyle. Mrs Doyle said she saw the need for a Citizens Advice Bureau in the area, as most people do not know where to go, or who to tum to for advice.
The Bureau will be a free service to the people of the Waimarino who need advice or have problems that concern social, family, legal, financial, practical or emotional matters. Mrs Doyle has had some experience in counselling, as well as maintaining an interest in the introduction of C.A.B in Taihape. The establishing committee's initial priorities are to raise awareness, find enough volunteers to staff the office and establish whether there is a need for such a service in the Waimarino. Their first public meeting since forming the committee is to be held Tuesday 16 June at their office in Clyde St, in the former Carter Merchants building.
