Fourteen teams from the Waimarino, Taihape and Wanganui competed in the Checkers tournament held at Ruapehu college on Sunday. The event was run by the Checkers netball team and sponsored by Tip Top Bakeries. Winners of the competition were Pirates I, runners up were Pirates II and third were Papanui. All three prizewinning teams were from Taihape.
