Skiing book to be compiled

Tongariro National Park celebrates its 100 th birthday this year and a book to be called 'Skiing on the Volcano' is one of Ruapehu Alpine Lifts' contributions to the celebrations. The book is being compiled by RAL and will consist of 48 pages of quality black and white photographs selected by Dave Bamford and Karen Williams of Tourism Resource Consultants.

The book will be aiming to recapture the feeling of a bygone era and to document the developments which have taken place on Ruapehu more recently. RAL is looking for photos from the 1930's40's era or earlier, essentially of people skiing or in any way illustrating the history of winter sports on Mount Ruapehu. The book is expected to be released in August to coincide with Tongariro National Park's centennial celebrations.
