Basketball

Winter league basketball has recently begun in the Waimarino, with considerable interest shown this year. Four mens' and four womens' teams have already registered for the season which begins Monday 25 May, but in spite of the keeness of some players there is still no support at meetings. A common complaint by officials last season was the lack of players turning up for meetings, meaning that organisation was left to the same few people. Player Anne Bates expressed concern that all registered teams were not getting the chance to have their say because they were not being represented at meetings. The next meeting is at Ruapehu College on 20 May and representatives from all teams are urged to attend to have their say.
