Chills Off alive

A newly restructured Chills Off committee began life last week, from the previous committee's last ditch attempt to salvage the project. The Chills Off project was launched 18 months ago with the object being to raise $120,000 to enclose the Raetihi swimming baths and thus lengthen the swimming season. Chills Off's original chairman and instigator Lance Langdon, last week resigned from the position. Mr Langdon organised the meeting as a final attempt to arouse public support for the project. Although just 14 people

attended the meeting, a motion was passed to continue with fundraising and a new committee was formed. Roger Parsons was elected chairman, Cynthia Binzeggar acting secretary and Shirley McDonough treasurer. Committee members elected were Pat Hansen, Alan Zous, Keith Kui, Lance Langdon, Pam Condon, Tui Wikihika, Dawn Henana and Julie Grantham. Mr Langdon said the new committee are very enthusiastic and already have several ideas for fundraising activities. The committee's first meeting is to be held this week.
