Fashion show entertains again
The annual social-event-of-the-year fashion parade at Pipers Kings Court was held Wednesday last week. Organiscr Mike Wiggins said the show was a great success with a capacity crowd in attendance. The volunteer modcls showed off street fashions from Ragtime and Factory Fashions, denim clothes from Littles, ski wear from Junction Ski Shop and Benson & Hedges award winning leatherwear for The Shcepskin Shop. The fashion parade went ' on for close to two hours and was followed by dancing into the small hours, around 2am, when the only choice of drink for those left was between a dram of whiskey and a
shot of kahlua. Walter Sue provided the music for the night with
his disco. Tim Pekamu entertained the audience with a display of break-
dancing. His efforts were well received. Graeme 'Ali' Robinson provided an amusing commentary for the Factory Fashions display. Pam Kennedy commentated for' the Ragtime display and Mike Wiggins took the job of master of ceremonies for the evening. The Junction Ski Shop display was a highlight of the evening, with a display featuring a 'rocket ship' and 'martian', lots of dry ice and models showing off this year's ski fashions which use irridescent colours. The money raised from the evening will go to Turoa Tumblers. Mike Wiggins advises people to pencil in next year's parade, same time sarne place.
