Many entries for colouring competition
World Health Day on 7 April was coramemmorated by children around the Waimarino in the form of a colouring-in competition, the theme being the promotion of immunisation. The organiser of the Waiouru-based competition, Public Health Nurse Anne Whyte, said she was delighted with the response of around 100 entries. The Waiouru judges, Plunket committee member Gabriella Tipene and Social Worker Peter Bright, had the difficult job of deciding which entries to declare the prize winners. The results were: 5 years - Erica Ford 1st, Rochelle Mills 2nd; 6 years -John Hood 1st, Michaela Rawiri 2nd; 7 years - Rebecca Mills 1st, Karina Fofd 2nd; 8-11 years - Arena Hood 1st, Stacey Oneroa 2nd. Prizes of bonus bonds were donated by Waiouru Lions.
The winners of the Waimarino competition were Kelly Woods of Ohakune in the 5-7 year category and Erin Martin of Horopito in the under 5's.
Judges of the RaetihiOhakune competition, Plunket Nurse Carole Harford and Public Health Nurse Leigh Berry, said they were impressed by the standard of
the entries and the large number received. Prizes were donated by Waimarino Plunket.
