Hire centre moves house
Dixon's Hire Centre moved into its new premises one month ago and is now open for business. The Hire Centre in Burns St, Ohakune, hires out almost anything, from air compressors and lawn mowers to exercise equipment. Dixon's runs in conjunction with Rush Hire Centre in Palmerston North and anything not in stock in Ohakune can be ordered and sent up within 48 hours. Graham Dixon said he saw the need for the service in the area early last year because the closest hire centre was in Wanganui. A lot of Mr Dixon's own equipment is being utilised by the hire centre when it was previously sitting unused. The old shed was demolised and a new storeshed constructed to house the hire equipment and the Dixons' supply of gas cylinders.
The company is also agent for MESCO Liquid Air Equipment. Dixons stock an extensive range of gases for food and industrial purposes, including carbon dioxide and
oxygen, as well as welding gases. With a supplier in the area, local businesses will no longer have to stock extra cylinders and will save money on bottle hireage. Mr Dixon said that
MESCO Air has the advantage of being considerably cheaper than other suppliers and the prices are expected to remain fixed for another seven months while competitors' prices will go up at the end of April.
