Faster food for Ohakune
Ohakune is soon to move into the rank of 'trendy' with the opening of a genuine roll-a-door burger bar in Clyde St. The fast food outlet wil be unmistakable — painted a bright orange and bearing the name 'Dew Drop Inn', it will be a match for its sister business in Taihape. The owner of the Taihape burger bar bearing the same name, Karl Christiansen, first heard about the vacant shop premises six weeks ago. The shop was previously 'Footy's Hot Spud and Kebab Shop'. Mr Christiansen said he'd had such a venture in mind for a few years and as a bonus has family living in the Waimarino. He has lived in Taihape for 20 years and with his wife has run the burger bar for four years.
The couple and their baby son will eventually be moving to Ohakune. Work is underway to refurbish the living quarters of the shop. Some long hours have been put in by Mr Christiansen and his brother Tony to refit the shop with necessary equipment such as deep-
frying vats. Work is expected to be completed within a month and the 'Dew Drop Inn' will stay open all year. Mr Christiansen will be commuting between Ohakune and Taihape on a regular basis to manage his other business.
