A comprehensive range of models

The new Ford Lasers are now coming out in a comprehensive range of sedan and hatchback cars with three distinct and individuai models, each with their own speciai features and personalities. The Ford Laser sedan brought a new level of sophisticated elegance to the world of smaller four door sedans. A blend of subtly executed aerodynamic features and formal four door styling made the Ford Laser a sedan of distinction. In addition to a 35mm longer wheelbase for improved ride and 20mm wider rear track for greater stability, the new generation Ford Laser sedan features a lighter, quieter and more powerful 'E' series engine together with anti-swerve front suspension, new 'turbo-cooled' ventilated front disc brakes, constant gear ratio rack and pinion steering and a strong lightweight body using high strength alloy wheels. Motorists are able to

choose from three versions of the Ford Laser sedan, ranging from the utility of Laser L to the practicality and comfort of Laser GL and the luxury of the tastefully appointed Laser Ghia. In addition, the Ford

Laser hatchback features near flush bodyside glass, improved interior quietness resulting from quieter engines, improved suspension isolation and better noise insulation, an extensive use of lightweight alloy components and negative camber

rear suspension for greater cornering power. Like the sedan, the hatchback is available in Laser L, Laser GL and Laser Ghia versions. A third version of the Ford Laser is the TX3i and

represents the stunning combination of electronic fuel injection and a sleek three door body. The Laser TX3i is an unashamedly sports-oriented driver's car with automatic adjustable suspension, four wheel disc brakes and precise rack and pinion variable gear ratio steering in addition to its all new 1.6 litre fuel injected engine. Engines for the new generation Ford Laser sedan and hatchback are single overhead camshaft 1.3 litre and 1.5 litre four cylinder units. The maximum power and torque of these economical and spirited performance engines is 50kW and 62.5kW at 6000 revs and 95Nm at 3500 revs and 120Nm at 3200 revs respectively. The Ford Laser sedan is available in L3L, l.5GLand 1.5 Ghia versions, while the new generation Ford Laser hatchback is available in 1.3L three door, 1.3GL five door and l .5 Ghia five door versions. As mentioned, a key ingredient of these generously equipped cars is the new, larger passenger compartment. In fact, the new generation Ford Laser

offers more front seat leg room, more rear seat leg room, more rear seat head room and more rear seat knee room than any other competitor, with comprehensive instrumentation and clear, easily reached driving controls. The outstanding features of the new generation model range are well demonstrated by the Ford Laser Ghia, available in four door sedan and five door hatchback styling. These 1.5 litre cars boast such features as power steering, alloy wheels, electric windows, central door locking, remote control exterior mirrors, moulded door panels, velvet knit seat covers, tinted glass, rear window wash wipe, full centre console, comprehensive instrumentation and steel belted radial tyres.
