New blood for carrier business

At 25, Ohakune's Craig Greenwood is successful in his own right as the owner of 'Craig Greenwood Enterprises'. His business includes general carrying, agricultural and rubbish contracting. He can operate anywhere in New Zealand while his home and base are in Ohakune. Mr Greenwood recently took over the carrying business of carrier Neil McLean, who has sold it to take over Boyd's Bookshop in Raetihi. The businesses' fleet of trucks includes an Isuzu for general carrying, an International for rubbish collection and a Ford truck. Mr Greenwood took over the contract for collecting rubbish in the Ohakune Borough on 1 April 1986 and the Ohakune dump maintenance contract in September 1986. His company's motto is 'we carry anything, anywhere, anytime'. He is currently involved in carrying 5000 bales of hay to Auckland and has had numerous furniture removal jobs to various parts of the North Island. Mr Greenwood said he works long hours, often seven days a week "to make the business work." Mr Greenwood carries goods almost every day from MSD Speirs' timber mill at Tangiwai to their retail outlet in Ohakune and is in radio telephone contact

with the shop in case of further work. Mr Greenwood has a section in Old Station Road

and plans to site a depot there shortly. At present he is working out of the rear of the FCOS building in Oha-

kune which he uses as a storeroom for railways freight and door-to-door goods.
