Ohakune Police arrested four men last Monday night for the alleged theft of a motor vehicle and willful damage. The men appeared at a special sitting of the Ohakune District Court last Tuesday. Grant Raymond Arbuckle 21, a fisherman from Greymouth, was charged with receiving a 1978 Toyota Corolla car valued at $17,131, belonging to Mutual Rental Cars Ltd, Wellington. He was also charged with driving at a dangerous speed. John Gavin Hayes 18, sickness beneficiary of Wanganui, Timothy John Beale 18, beneficiary of Wanganui, and Craig Douglas Stewart 21, unemployed of Wanganui, were
each charged with willful damage under the Crimes Act in respect of alleged damage to the interior of the vehicle. Ohakune Police requested that no pleas be entered for the charges in court and the four be remanded to appear in the Wanganui District Court on 6 April, with bail of $ 1 000 each. * ★ ★ Police arrested a 23-year old Raetihi man on Sunday afternoon for unlawful possession of a rifle after an incident at a party in Raetihi earlier on Sunday. He appeared in the Wanganui District Court on Monday 30 March. ★ ★ ★ Police enquiries are continuing after the Ohakune C1B investigated a complaint of sexual violation that "occurred in Raetihi on Sunday. ★ ★ ★ Ohakune Police have in their possession an item of jewellery that was found in Ohakune township and handed to them on 17 March. Anyone with enquiries should direct them to the Ohakune Police Station.
