Stylish Waimarino wedding

Norma and Jim Cranston's beautiful landscaped garden at Makaranui, 5km from Ohakune, was the setting for the wedding of Gaye Nation and Andrew Donald on Saturday. The wedding party arrived in style in vintage cars supplied by Horopito car dealer Bill Cole on what was a brilliantly sunny afternoon. The ceremony was performed by marriage celebrant Bill TeKaru beside a small lake, where the couple exchanged vows in front of over 300 family members and friends. Gaye, the second daughter of Audrey and John Nation of Ohakune and Andrew, the second son of Kathleen and Keith Donald of Kakatahi, will make their home on farmland at Kakatahi. Some of the celebrated guests at the wedding included Andrew's All Black associates Keiran Crowley, Jock Hobbs, Frank Shelford, John Ashworth and Murray Mexted with his wife Lorraine who was Miss Universe 1984. A reception held at the Ohakune Primary School hall followed the service. The hall's decorations included silver rugby balls and boots as a fitting touch.
