Boyd's Bookshop in Raetihi will be changing hands at the end of this month and with the change a well-known identity associated with the business leaves. Noelene Workman, rru4| her of Raetihi's Mayor G ™ rick Workman has worked part-time at Boyd's since 1966. The shop was then owned by Jack and Nancy Pearson. When the bookshop was bought by Garrick Workman in 1 97 1 . Mrs Workman continued working with the business. In earlier days the shop extended into what is now 'Robin's Nest'. Shortly after Garrick took over. the bookshop was extended out the back and the Robin's Nest shop was vacated. Mrs Workman has lived in Raetihi all her life and during her 20 years behind the counter, she got to know a great number of people in the area. Mrs Workman left for Australia last Tuesday for a 5-week holiday with her son and daughter who live in Queensland and Adelaide respectively. Mrs Workman said she will miss the familiar faces who frequent the bookshop, but now has more time for her hobbies of crocheting and knitting. She and her husband intend to make full use of their holiday caravan and travel a lot more.
