New Job for Bob

Bob McGinniss of Ohakune is a man of many talents, he is adept at leather and wood work and is proving to have a good grasp of the retail business even though he has had no previous experience. Bob opened the doors of his new 'Far-end Shop' last week, a shop overflowing with quality used clothing. At the end of this month, Bob's job as forest ranger will end due to recent cutbacks by the New Zealand Forestry Service. He was faced with redundancy or the prospect of moving himself and his family to Wanganui where he says job opportunities are better than in the Waimarino. He decided to try his hand at the retail business rather than leave the area and has had a favourable response from people visiting the shop. The stock is supplied by Kiwi Drycleaners in Wanganui, who buys new and used clothing. Bob said he is aiming to keep prices at a minimum and trying to cater for everyone with his range of clothing and footwear. The range includes skirts, suits, shirts, leisure-wear, winter and summer-weight jerseys, and fashionable trousers, plus a small range of boots and shoes. He is also looking towards stocking a good range of inexpensive children's wear. Prices range from around $4 — $30 for good used clothing. Bob has the business on a two month trial basis to make good. If it is successful he plans to expand into bigger and better premises and likewise his stock. Two local ladies, Lyn Richards and Penny Morrissey, are working for Bob part-time free of charge to help him get the business going. The shop is located in Ayr Street, behind the Cut Above hair salon and is open every week day.
