Man jailed

An Ohakune man was sentenced to four years and six months imprisonment last week. Adolphus Dolphy Kohu, 39, appeared before Judge Unwin in the Wanganui District Court on 1 1 charges of burglary. The burglaries occured between December 1986 and January 1987. The value of the goods that Kohu stole was put at $17,000. Kohu pleaded guiltyto all the charges.

Kohu committed the burglaries less than one week after his release from prison and while he was on parole, said Judge Unwin. For the burglary of a restaurant Kohu was sentenced to 18 months in prison and for the other charges he was sentenced to three years total. The two terms are to be cumulative. Judge Unwin told Kohu people would feel safer knowing that he was locked up.
