Women bowlers on winning streak
The ladies of the Ohakune Womens' Bowling Club have worked themselves up through the ranks of challengers for the Wanganui district's coveted Simonsen's Cup and are now in the enviable position of holding the record for the most consecutive wins. After last Thursday's resounding win over Durie Hill, Ohakune holds the record with 22 victories, at last count. They proved however,
that they are not content to rest on their laurels, with last week's challenge against Wanganui East for the 'Pluck Cup'. Audrey Nation (skip), Vi Brown (3), Rita Kaiwhare (2) and Christina Kaiwhare (lead) emerged the winning team after a spirited game with the score 24/16. Their next challenge for the Pluck Cup will be from Waverley in the first week of March with no date as yet confirmed. The same week, Taihape challenges for the Simonsen's Cup.
