Provided Parliament has approved the necessary legislation, Lotto will begin in the middle of 1987. Lotto tickets will be sold from retail businesses throughout New Zealand using the latest computer saies terminals linked to the New Zealand Lotteries Commlssion central computer. Registrations of interest are sought from successful retail businesses and persons wishing to be awarded saies franchises for Lotto. In general, preference will be given to: * A high standard of premises with pleasant decorand well ventilated space. * Suff icfent space to allow for a saies counter, ticket vending terminal and floor space for a small queue. About 6 square metres should be sufficient. * Provision fordisplay of promotional material. * Key retail location with high pedestrian traffic. * A minimum of five days a week trading including Saturday. * Ability to achieve a saies volume in excess of $2,000 minimum per week, representing about 700 entries. Some establishment costs will be incurred by successful applicants to meet Commission requirements.
