Patrick skis well

While the Waimarino enjoys summer, Patrick Cooper of Ohakune is experiencing the Northern winter at Winter Park Skifields in Colorado, USA. Skiing is going well for Patrick despite an early mishap with a piece of loose tape on a training gate which resulted in a cut lip and a doctor's bill for NZ $420 for stitching! Hopefully medical insurance will eventually reimburse him. Accommodation is a bit of a problem and is still on a temporary basis but he hopes to be in a more permanent place shortly. At a recent race event at Brecken Ridge, Colorado he qualified comfortably for

the USA Disabled Skiing Championships to be held at the end of March in the eastern USA north of Boston. He came 2nd (Silver medal) in the Giant Slalom and 1st (Gold Medal) in the Slalom. This was in compe-

tition with the USA No2 Disabled Skier. The USA Nol Disabled Skier was not racing, but is unlikely to be beaten. Patrick says he is very good, but it really gives Patrick something to strive for.
