Waimarino meet China Taipei

Softball teams from the Waimarino and Wanganui competed against a tearn from China Taipei at Waiouru last weekend. China-Taipei beat Waimarino mens rep team six runs to one. Coach Nuts Morgan was pleased with

iiis team's performance considering the world standard of the visiting team. Robert Harris played an outstanding game with his variety of pitching forms — the chinese found him hard to hit. Bad catches by several of the team helped the visitors to score four runs after the sixth innings. Up until then

they were leading by a slender 2-1 score. In the China Taipei versus Wanganui mens reps game Eric Wilson was too good for the visitors and Wanganui won 7-2. The China Taipei pitcher was injured in the 6th innings and there were fears that it would affect the

rest of the tour. However they have five other pitchers in the 17 to 18 year age group. The women's game saw Waimarino reps loose to Wanganui by a close 5-4 score. lt was a tough game and Wanganui scraped in with the deciding run towards the end of the game.
