TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1977 Public Notice of District Scheme Change OHAKUNE BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSED CHANGE 82/16 PROPOSAL THAT Ordinances 3.1.6(a), 3.2.4(a) and 3.6.5(a) bedeleted and (b) and (c) be renumbered (a) and (b) respectively. THAT Ordinances 3.3.6(a) and 3.4.6(a) be deleted and the following clause added: No flashing signs will be permitted in this zone. EXPLANATION This change relates to the requirements in respect of Advertising in the Rural, Recreation Park, Marae Gommunity Zone, Residential A and Residential B Zones. In particular, it relates to the requirement that signs be of natural timber with routed or coloured lettering and symbols, or of routed wood. The Council's original intenfion in establishing this standard was to develop the character of the Borough in a manner that would maximise its attractiveness as a tourist centre and as a place to live by emphasising its links with Tongariro National Park and other scenic attractions. Because of the diverse nature of advertising, however, the requirement has proved to be too inflexible. This Scheme Change may be inspected at the Borough Office, Miro Street, together with the Operative District Planning Scheme at any time when it is open to the public. Submissions and objections to the Change or any part thereof may be made by any body or person affected or representing some relevant aspect of the public interest. Submissions and objections shall be in writing on Form C prescribed in the Schedule of the Town and Country Planning Regulations 1 978 or to the like effect and shall be lodged at the office of the Council not later than 4.00pm on Wednesday, 4 March 1987. Copies of Form C are available from the Council Office. At a later date, every objection will be open for public inspection and any body or person who wishes to support or oppose any objection will be entitled to do so.
