The best resolution
January 1987 is here and we are FACING UP to another New Year, wondering no doubt just what it holds for us. Decisions we are obliged, and sometimes forced, to make will inevitably affect what we get out of 1987. God alone knows if we will make the right decisions and God alone can help and guide us in the resolutions we do make. A lot of this guidance comes through circumstances and also very often from our companions of the moment. The influence we have on the lives of others should not be underestimated.
Many of us attended a Christmas or New Year church service and were exhilerated by the experience. There was something up-lifting about it that cheered us and left us on a slightly nigher spiritual plane — for a day or two. The quiet tranquil atmosphere of the church was balm to our flustered pre-Christmas-rushed souls, but it certainly won't carry us through a whole year. The minister's words were soothing but the restorative also certainly won't last a whole year — and we have only 11/1 2ths of 1 987 left before
it too, like all our past years, has rushed into eternity. We need to think of church as our Spiritual Home; a place where we can at least once a week go for our spiritual life to be recharged in much the same way as we retire daily to our home and family from our work life for rest and refreshment. We should each make a decision — a good oldfashioned New Year resolution — to care more proportionately during 1987 for both our physical and spiritual well-being. 1 can't make the decision for you, but you know (better than 1) just how much more could be achieved this year of you were cairn, tranquil, rested, composed, serene, peaceful, unruffled. placid and refreshed in body mind and soul. You could be if you attended church more often. Will you be FACING UPto life in 1987?
