Pony club camp out at Ruatiti

Twenty-three riders from the Raetihi Pony Club enjoyed four days of instruction and fun over the Christmas break. The youngsters aged 4-17, trekked on horseback down

Ohura Road for a short stay on the property of Merv and Nicky Williams in the Ruatiti Valley, north of Raetihi township. M rs Williarasr a Pony Club instructor, organised a variety of activities for the

riders to take part in, including trekking, hacking, crosscountry,jumpingand a musical dressage. The camp was an adventure for all the children and sleeping in the farm's woolshed added to the fun. Parents and friends turned up for the first evening and attended a spirited barbeque at the Ruatiti Domain. Local instructors Roie

McGill, Claudia Mason, Alison McGregor and Nicky Williams were available to help riders with individual problems. Mrs Williams praised the riders' willingness to cooperate and was pleased with the overall level of improvement. She also extended her thanks to parents and those who assisted during the camp.
