Programme of Events

The Raetihi Business Association have organised plenty of activities for the coming festive season starting with a carol singing evening on Friday 12 December. The carol singers will start at the hospital at 7.00pm. All singers with enthusiasm are invited to join in. Saturday 13 December will be a market day for Raetihi starting at 9am with the shops open and street stalls

put up by local clubs and stores. At around 10am a parade will commence along Seddon Street with various floats prepared by clubs and groups including one from the local fire brigade. There will be vintage cars, stock cars, a band, marching girls. clowns and cartoon characters. A pied-piper will be there to lead a fancy dress parade (children and adults welcome). After the parade a tug-o-war will be held in Seddon Street. Teams can enter on

the day, mens'and womens' — five in each team. There '11 be egg-throwing competitions, egg-and-spoon races, wheelbarrow and pram races and games just for the kids (with prizes). Other activities on the day will be quick-fire raffles, a sausage sizzle, rides for the kids, lolly scramble and a sweet-stall. Raffleticketsfor a $500 Christmas hamper will be on sale and a hangi will be put down for lunch. Father Christmas will be in his cave, available for

photos with the children. Listen to the town cryer on the day for other events and times. On Saturday 20th there will be a teddy bears' picnic in the park opposite Boyds in Seddon street. along with other child-minding activities to allow you to do your Christmas shopping. A free film matinee for the children will be screened at the Royal Theatre at 1 pm on Christmas Eve with Father Christmas and his helpers there to see the kids.
