Holiday Jobs

The Student Job Search scheme is operating again this summer but so far only three students have enrolled from the Waimarino area. Christina Carr, a Massey University student, is working for the Department of Labour over the holiday break findingjobs for fellow students. Christina is running the scheme in the Wanganui district which includes the Waimarino. If you are a tertiary student or an intending tertiary student looking for holiday work then Christina would like to hear from you.

Employers also are urged to contact the Department if they have work for students. Employers are offered an $83 per week wage subsidy for each student. So far three employers in the Waimarino have indicated they are interested in taking on students. Public and private sector employers are eligible for the scheme. Students can specify the type of work they would like to do and are matched with vacancies. Students and employers can contact Christina at the Labour Department in Wanganui, Phone (064) 55-575.
