'Still hope for future'
In response to 'Curious' and 'Funds Available' and being a pretty basic unemployed type. 1 have had time to think about the complacent nature of this society and western society in general. Everyone is guilty in one way or another to consume more than produce thus creating imbalance. The Community Organisation Grants Scheme (C.O.G.S.) is a scheme with
hope because whatever the community organises to put in they stand to gain more out. This is very positive. We have community resources of people power (mentally and physically). But for this resource to be tapped communication is necessary. We have the paper as a medium for suggestions. 1 have been coming to Ohakune for 15 years now and needless to say have seen the place change to
what it is now. And the way it appears is that it will continue to do so. It is up to the community to take the initiative with the direction of the town. My suggestion for the community is to use the natural beauty that surrounds the area and apply this within the town. It is terrible to see beauty get consumed. With potential financial input from C.O.G.S. we have the opportunity to improve work skills and improve and unite the community for everyone's benefit. Appropriate technology and market research are ways we can make more efficient use of our resources and develop new ones. Everything I sav is pretty basic but there is hope for a more balanced society. C'mon everyone. lets hear what you reckon. eh? Uncomplacent & Hopeful Ohakune
