'Jubilee Booklet'

Thank you for the coverage given to the Ohakune Borough Council 75th jubilee booklet. Indeed it would make an ideal Christmas present as you so wisely note. I also concur with your list of people who contributed their time and skills by providing information and photographs. 1 refer particularly to those who did so for no remuneration and as an additional burden on their daily duties. Their talents and expertise, had they been charged to us, would have totalled a considerable sum and made the jubilee book impossible to produce. However, I must mention that there were some names missing from the list published in the BuUetin of 1 1 November 1986. The introduction was provided by the mayor, Mr Bill Taylor who in his capacity as chairman of the jubilee committee gave us the confidence and support to produce the book. John Francis of Wanganui Newspapers who made available to us pictures from their Ohakune file — one which was used in the jubilee book and a picture of former mayor, Mr John Gould with Mr Taylor used in a BuUetin article on 28 October 1986. Thanks must also be extended to the N.Z. Railways Publicity Department which provided us with a lengthy article on the development of the Main Trunk Line and as well gave us several photographs which were used in the book. Thanks also to Mr, Roro Wetere, the Minister of Maori Affairs, for his welcome in the book and to Taumarunui Gazette typesetter, Mrs Allison Simmons. Praise should also go out to Bruce and Mary Leggatt at the Ohakune Hotel for the fabulous spread at the book launch. Special personal thanks to Neil Blackhall at TNL Print, New Plymouth who supervised an excellent printing and binding job on the book and whose knowledge and advice proved invaluable. Finally thank you to the advertisers without whom the book would not have been produced. Their monetary support has ensured that our descendants will have an Ohakune jubilee book to refer back to.
