Pony Club News
Ohakune Branch Pony Club and Waimarino Riding Club News: The season is now in full swing after considerable frustrations with the October weather, causing cancellations and changes of plans. The Ohakune Club has had two mounted rallies, one unmounted and one ride, with an average attendance of twelve members. Prospective members and visitors are always welcome to attend rallies around the Waimarino. After niost mounted rallies on the Rangataua domain the Waimarino Riding Club members meet and have had several successful gatherings which are also open to prospective members. Recently the Raetihi branch organised two week ends of riding tuition for Waimarino riders and about 25 members participated under the guidance of instructor Julie Pearson. T wo riding club members, Mrs E. Cooper and Mrs J. Pointon, travelled to Wanganui where they sat and passed their NZHS Riding
Examinations. It is hoped that an invitation may be extended to examiners from out of the region to conduct further examinations of local members in March or April of next year. A full programme of Pony Club activities has been arranged for the rest of the season. A small committee is to meet in the near future to organise the 1987 New Zealand Pony Club Conference to be held in the Waimarino in June next year.
