FUNDS AVAILABLE
The Wanganui region (which includes the Waimarino) has $93,600 to spend on sociallyrelated services before the end of March next year according to C.O.G.S. community worker Helen Sullivan of New Plymouth. Ms Sullivan will be in the Waimarino next week to explain this new funding scheme (Community Organisation Grant Scheme) at two public meetings — one in Waiouru and one in Ohakune (see Public Notices). The scheme is aimed to help groups involved with social services by making funds available for such things as salaries for full and part-time voluntary personnel, travel expenses, projects, meetings, huisetc. The funds are not available for items of capital expenditure such as buildings. Applications for these funds close on 14November and Ms Sullivan urges anyone who is involved in providing socially related services to the community to come along to her meetings and hear more about the C.O.G.S. scheme.
