Jubilee booklet launched

At a wine and cheese evening in Ohakune last night, a booklet to mark the 75th jubilee of the Ohakune Borough was launched. The 52-page book — the result of teamwork and input from a number of volunteers and contributors — details the involvement of the.Railways in the development of the town, the role of market-gardening and milling throughout the 75 years and the impact of Turoa Skifields on the fortunes of Ohakune. The official celebrations will not be held until February next year with the highlight being the visit to the town by the GovernorGeneral of New Zealand, Sir Paul Reeves.
