Heinold county chairman
Cr Con Heinold was last week the only nomination for chairman of the new Waimarino County Council.
At an earlier meeting Cr Gavin Jones was also nominated and the vote was split. At last Thursday's meeting Cr Heinold was the only nomination and Cr Jones was nominated for deputy chairman. Among other appointments Cr Heinold becomes the representative on the Wanganui Regional Council. Committee members are hydatids: Crs Bennett, Trebilcock, Heinold; Noxious plants: Crs McCourbrie, Jones, Griffiths; sports and
recreation: Crs McCourbrie, Trebilcock; civil defence: Crs Heinold, Jones; amalgamation steering committee: Crs Heinold, Jones, Martin. Meeting fees were discussed but left until research was done by councillors. The chairman's honorarium was set at the maximum allowable figure of $3,500.
