Gamble--McCormick return

The re-discovery of the Mount Ruapehu region as a venue for their brand of blues music and humour, has been a bonus for veteran performers, Hammond Gamble and Gary McCormick. "We are often involved in shows in Wellington and Auckland and spend quite a lot of time commuting between the two. This is the first year we've really got involved in the skiing thing and 1 must say, we've really enjoyed it." So says Hammond Gamble on the eve of re-entering the recording studio to record another of his own compositions. McCormick, the "joker" of the two, recounts what a discovery it was. "This is my third visit this winter and that has come about primarily because of the good crowd responses and the friendlyattitudes of the publicans at the National Park, Ohakune and Oasis Hotels. The end-of-season visit contains new blues music and "N'ew Wave"comedy. They will perform at Waiouru's Oasis Hotel, on Wednesday 22 October, at the Ohakune Hotel on Thursday 23 October, and on Friday and Saturday 24 and 25 October at the National Park Hotel, all shows beginning at 8pm.
