Overnight on Wednesday, a refrigerator truck owned by Gould Brothers Limited, Feilding, was broken into while parked in the Ohakune Hotel carpark. A large quantity of bacon, ham and small goods, valued at several thousands of dollars was stolen. Police enquiries are continuing. ★ ★ ★ On Wednesday night, two vehicles in the Reynolds Ford used-car saies yard on the corner of Miro and Clyde Streets, Ohakune, were broken into. ★ ★ ★ Also on Wednesday night, a trailer used to advertise Nobby's Ski hire was removed from the intersection of Mangawhero Terrace and Tyne Street, Ohakune, and was recovered the following day at Ohakune Junction. ^ ^ ^ Overnight on Saturday, a metallic green men's tenspeed bicycle was stolen from the Turoa Staff hostel in Clyde Street, Ohakune. Enquiries are continuing: ★ ★ ★ The Ritz Tearooms in Seddon Street, Raetihi, was broken into overnight Saturday and goods were stolen. Raetihi Police are calling for anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in the area on Saturday. About $3000 worth of cigarettes, tobacco and frozen meat items were taken in the burglary. ★ ★ ★ Raetihi Police attended a car fire in Goldfinch Street, Ohakune, at 7.40pm on Friday night. Two policemen discovered the vehicle while in Ohakune on business and extinguished the fire with an extinguisher from their vehicle. The fire was believed to have started from an electrical fault.
