ITC group speech contest

The Waimarino ITC group — those in the International Training in Communication group, are a small but enthusiastic body of people who meet on a regular basis to practise their speechmaking skills. Last week, an impromptu speech contest was held in Raetihi, where members were required to speak for a time of five to seven minutes on one of three topics. The winning speech was delivered by Jean Windle who spoke on the topic of "Last night I won the Mobil Song Quest," a topic that raised a few smiles. Second was Valma Littlewood, and third Keitha Journeaux. Judges for the evening were Andrew Cornwall and Ruapehu Radio announcer. Graham Beaver. The ITC group meet regularly to discuss speech techniques. President is Margaret Cornwall, secretary Anne Greenwood, treasurer Gretchen Littlewood, vicepresident for education Fay Eves, and for membership Jean Windle, delegate Valma Littlewood, publicity officer Keitha Journeaux, parliamentarian Francie Geraghty, and historian Margaret Horne. The group wish to encourage members of the public to attend the evenings and are eager for more members.
