Waimarino riding club formed
On 11 September 14 people attended the public meeting called to gauge how much interest there was in forming a local riding club. As a result the Waimarino Riding Club has been formed and will affiliate with the NZHS Riding Clubs Committee. Membership subscriptions have been set at $5 per member for the 1986/87 season. Mrs Joy Pointon was nominated as secretary/ treasurer and Mrs Evelyn Cooper president. The first rally will be held on Saturday 28 September at 2pm immediately following the Ohakune Pony Club opening rally at the Rangataua Domain. Any members who wish to arrive earlier and join forces with the Pony Club will be very welcome. At present we hope to help one another with riding and to make use of the Pony Club equipment when everything is set up, for example dressage arena and jumps. Unmounted members are welcome and should come dressed for riding is case there is a horse available to borrow or share.
Through the riding club members will be able to sit task sheets in various grades and these people hope to take grade 1 in Novemberin Wanganui. It is possible that towards the end of the sea-
son further members could take grades if interest is there. Hopefully some rallies can be held in Raetihi, as our membership is widespread from Karioi to Mangaeturoa.
Our aims are threefold! To promote membership by encouraging others to join us, to raise the riding standard of members and to have fun and companionship while riding.
