Ruapehu region on Aussie TV

Readers will remember an article featured in the Bulletin three weeks ago, concerning an Australian film crew for the programme Good Morning Australia, who were visiting the Ruapehu region. The crew was in the region for five days, shooting footage of the area for a programme to promote the North Island as a ski and holiday resort. The light-hearted documentary was watched by over a million viewers all over Western Australia, including a New Zealand couple - Bill and Jean MacFarlane from Karioi. Mrand Mrs MacFarlane were holidaying in Queensland when the film was scree-

ned, and they were thrilled to see some familiar faces from home. Mrs MacFarlane was impressed by the 20 minute film. "It showed people that New Zealand has more to offer than just farming and sheep", she said. "There was a short piece on casting for trout at the lake on Lake's Road. All the lass caught was Harry Brown's fishing hat! Afterwards they all bought fish and chips from Brian Dowsett's takeaways." The film also showed the famed Turoa Yeti, playfully romping in the snow in a game of hide and seek with the cameraman, and then later casting away hisinhibitions with a quiet beer at the hotel.
