Pony Club events

The Waimarino's Pony Club pot luck dinner and quiz held recently was a great success with several teams competing and an audience of around 30 people. Raetihi and Ohakune pony clubs combined to form five teams of five members who answered questions on a variety of topics. The children were quizzed on aspects of horse care such as saddlery, shoeing, fodder and equine ailments. The teams were judged on overall knowledge and aptitude by a panel of three impartial judges from the area. It was a close competition, with just five to ten points separating each team. The winning team was captained by Jackie Henderson and included Sharon Wagstaff, Serina Taylor, Cindy Langdon and Sally Williams. Another competition is scheduled next month to take place in Taumarunui, to include pony clubs in the King Country area.
