Snow groomer taken for joy ride

Turoa Skifields staff are flabbergasted by the audacity of persons unknown who took the skifield's Kassbohrer snow groomer for a joy ride on Friday night. The incident occured at around 9pm when the driver left the vehicle unattended for a short time at the bottom of the Park Lane chairlift. In his absence, the vehicle was broken into and somehow started then taken for a spin, and eventually dumped in the Mangawhero Valley. Extensive damage was done to the machine's rear grooming bar and to the hydraulics of the vehicle. Mechanics spent most of Saturday repairing the damage, which is thought to

cost thousands of dollars. The machine is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Not surprisingly, Turoa staff are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may know about the incident, or the prankster.
