Teachers honour members

At a recent meeting of the Ruapehu branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute, the primary teachers' union, former Ohakune School principal Bill Taylor was made an honorary member. Mr Taylor, also Ohakune Mayor, retired recently from Ohakune School to concentrate on writing, particularly children's fiction. The meeting was also occasion for a farewell to Moreen Hancock, Ohakune School deputy principal, also retiring from the school. Mr Taylor made a farewell speech to Mrs Hancock in which he thanked her for her long service to the NZE1 branch.
